Negative impact of Internet and Information Technology towards children

Due to rapid of the technology, the Internet is become necessity thing on people life nowadays. All age level are using Internet to find information, to interact, to communicate, makes transaction and others. But what are the important things that should be consider are about the impact of Internet and information technology towards individual which focuses on the children. The Internet has drastically changed the way that children interact with the world. They have access to in depth knowledge, tools to express their creativity, and people from all over the world. Besides give a lot of benefits to the user/children, the internet also give new risks which are cyberbullying, exposure to inappropriate material, online predators, revealing too much personal information and so on.

Compared to a few years ago, children are not too exposed to the Internet because of the lack of application that can make them interact, play games and other. Technology nowadays, make all activities can be implemented on the Internet. All in the fingertips. This technology cause many parents give trust to their children on using Internet without monitoring what their children are doing. Based on my observation, experience and reading, there is many disadvantages exist such as expose to inappropriate material that can damage the children's mind. We can see many bad habits that act by children nowadays that influence by the Internet. Other than that, gone are the days when children used to play outdoor games. But, now they are prefer to play games online which do not involve any physical activity. Due to addiction of Internet, children and many people are doing less physical activities and it contribute to obesity among them.

Children using electronic gadgets like smartphones at a younger age are increasingly exposed to certain social and health risks that come with it. Parents, however do not fully understand the negative impact of using such devices. Many also do not teach their children how to use them properly. Internet also can contribute to health risks such as poor sitting postures and children straining their eyes by sitting in front of and staring at electronic screens for too long. There are also social and emotional risks like gaming addiction and cyber bullying, which could lead to serious consequences. Children could pick up negative habits like being violent, or face problems in socializing with peers. In addition, some children skip meals or eat faster so that they can finish their game and go on to the next level. These problem worsen later on in the primary schooling years, but such habits may be formed when they are younger.

For a great number of children, their lives revolve around computers, and video games. They don’t take interest in outdoor activities such as playing games, meeting their peers, going through stamp and coin collections, making and flying handmade kites and top spinning like how children used to spend their school holidays in the past. Nowadays, the word “game” means computer and the latest version of PlayStation. It shows that, it is a children’s obsession towards the computer, Internet, iPads and online games.

In my opinion, the Internet actually contribute many benefits towards children. Due to nowadays most people are exposed to the rapid technology, it also give the impact towards children to explore more about the technology. In this case, the Internet can be used by the children with monitoring from parents. The parents should make sure that their children do not get too addicted to the use of the Internet to the exclusion of their daily activities.

APPLE, SAMSUNG, ANDROID PAY

Someday our phone or smartwatch could very well replace our wallet. The promise of convenience is certainly there. Instead of digging to find the right credit or debit card, all we need to do is tap our device to a retail terminal to pay for our shopping goods and others. Apple, Samsung and Android are the company who provides this application to attract existing and new customers.

Apple Pay
Apple pay is a proprietary iOS based mobile payment system that uses our phone to make payments on near field communication (NFC) enabled credit card terminals at the point of sale (POS). This is the way to use Apple pay:
Firstly, we have enter or scan our credit card information into Apple’s Passbook app on an iPhone 6/6s or6/6s Plus. In a store that accepts Apple Pay, we have to tap our iPhone over or on an NFC enabled POS terminal when indicated by the clerk to initiate payment, then approve the payment via our fingerprint on the iPhone. With an Apple Watch, we just wave our Watch over the NFC enabled terminal. Apple Pay will also work on mobile commerce sites and commerce apps accessed via iOS8.x devices. Devices who support Apple Pay are iPhone 6/6s, 6/6s Plus and Apple Watch for in store use, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro and iPad Mini 3/4 for online purchases. The video below will show to you on how to use the Apple Pay.

Guideline for using Apple Pay:

Samsung Pay/Loop Pay
Samsung Pay uses the LoopPay mobile payment platform to allow for mobile payments at just about any point of sale system. This is the way to use Samsung pay:

Firstly, the credit cards are entered into the Samsung Pay app in a method similar to Apple pay/Passport. At retail, we swipe up from the Galaxy S6’s bezel to access the Samsung pay app, choose the desired debit or credit card, tap the phone to the NFC point of sale terminal, then authenticate the transaction via the Galaxy S6’s fingerprint sensor. In addition to NFC tap and pay, however Samsung Pay will also work on standard magnetic stripe point of sale retail terminals, thanks to LoopPay’s Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology. We first open the Samsung Pay app, select the debit or credit card we want to use, then hold our phone against the point of sale terminal where we would normally slide our card, the transaction then continues as if we had slid a card through. Devices who support Samsung Pay are Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy SG Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5.

Guideline for using Samsung Pay:

 Android Pay
It is an NFC/fingerprint system similar to Apple Pay that stores our credit card info to let us make quick payments at supported point of sale system as well as within certain apps. This is the way to use Android Pay:

Our Android Pay Credit card information is stored on our device and accessed by store specific apps. It will use the same token based system to protect user data during transaction. When we want to buy something in a supported story, simply tap our device to pay. Devices which support this Android Pay are presumably all Android devices with NFC.

                                                     Guideline for using Android Pay:

Innovation in Digital Health "SIMBAND"

Lets me introduce with you one of innovation in digital health. Have u ever heard the name "Simband" before this?. First of all, Simband doesn’t look much different than the company’s Gear S Smartwatch. From my reading on the few website, Simband is a thick rubber band connects to a slightly curved touchscreen display. The Simband is intended to be used by those within the medical industry and this is a one of the application for sensor technology introduced by Samsung. It is part of the company’s broader shift to move its wearables from fitness tracking to health monitoring with the goal of enabling preventive healthcare and wellness.

The Simband is equipped with six sensors. The six sensors it comes with can keep tabs on daily steps, heart rate, blood pressure, skin temperature and how much sweat our sweat glands are producing. These sensors are able to keep tabs on a wealth of information. While daily steps and even heart rate monitoring isn’t new ground for wearbles, the Simband’s sensors are able to track bodily functions at an impressively detailed level.

Simband is the concept of what a digital health device should be. Simband consists of a watch unit running Tizen and a wristband connector that holds a custom sensor module. Because Simbans is modular, user can easily connect sensor modules with new configurations. Samsung provides a reference implementation called Simsense that supports multiple sensors, each generating a unique data stream.

Simband watch unit has several important roles which are:
·         It connects automatically with SAMI to make the sensor data available to cloud intelligence
·         It runs installable algorithms that analyze the data and give immediate insights.
·         It touch display allow control, feedback and monitoring by the user.

Simband acts as a window into its wearer. Devices based on the Simband platform can continuously monitor our health and physical activity, as well as educate, coach and provide helpful feedback on our wellness. For the first time, we can ask specific health questions and get clear, insightful answers directly from our body. Simband is better and more useful for people because it accelerate innovation in digital health.

KEYPAD OR TOUCH SCREEN PHONE?

A QWERTY keypad is comprised of a series of keys used to input data for an electronic device such as cell phone. It is a smaller version of a traditional computer keyboard and is commonly laid out in a very similar way. The name QWERTY comes from the first six letters on the top row of alphabet keys on a standard keyboard. A keypad is used to enter letters, numerals, and usually common symbols such as exclamation marks.Keypads are the most commonly used and recognized system for entering text into a field.

Touch screens are visual displays that allow user to enter commands and information by touching images that appear on the screen. On a computer, this serves to eliminate the need for a mouse or other pointing device and on handheld devices like cell phones, it removes the need for a keypad. Touch screen can be used in a variety of ways and are often implemented in conjuction with pointing devices or keys. However, many portable electronic devices use the touch screen as the sole method of navigation and data entry. When the user wishes to type information, a virtual keypad is presented, and the user can type information using the touch screen.

Example of keypad and touch screen phones:

If you ask me, even if touch screen smartphones are the norm nowadays and even I use a touchscreen smartphone right now, I would still prefer smartphones that have a keypad or keyboard. It is due to I type quite slow on a touch screen phone and I make a lot of typing error too because of accidentally pressing another key as compared to a phone with a keypad. So, I definitely prefer phones with a keypad for heavy typing and texting activity. It takes forever in my case to type a sentence in a touch screen phone, but with keypad phones it takes more or less a few minutes. Other than that, I can know the location of all the letters. In a nutshell, based on my experience using the keypad phone, the benefits are fast typing, specificity, no calibration, accuracy and confidence, small size and durable.

To all readers you can share what are your preferences either keypad or touchscreen smartphone on the comment below.

WHY I CHOOSE ONLINE SHOPPING

Online shopping has become a popular shopping method ever since the Internet has declared a takeover. Online shopping includes buying clothes, gadgets, shoes, appliances, or even daily groceries and so on. Because of the numerous advantages and benefits of online shopping, more people nowadays prefer online shopping compared to conventional shopping. There are many reasons why I think buying on the Internet is the best option.
The advantages are as follows:

      1) Save Time
Of course, online shopping help to save my time. As a student I ‘m very busy to do my assignment and do not have enough time to go to supermarket or physical shop for shopping. To go there, it incurred more time. So with online shopping it can save my time.

      2) Save Fuel
Due to the fuel price is increase, I make initiative to make purchase online.  So, I can save my money from purchase fuel.

3) Save Energy
Admit it, it is tired to shop from one location and transfer to another location. What is worse is that there are no available stocks for the merchandise I want to buy. In online shopping, I do not need to waste my precious energy when buying.

      4) Comparison of prices
The advanced innovation of search engine allows me to easily check prices and compare with just a few clicks. It is very straightforward to conduct price comparison from one online shopping website to another. This gives me the freedom to determine which online store offers the most affordable item I am going to buy.

     5) 24/7 Availability
Online shopping stores are open around the clock of 24/7, 7 days a week and 365 days. It is very rare to find any conventional retail stores that open 24/7. The availability of online store give me the freedom to shop at my own pace and convenience.

    6) Too ashamed to buy
There are times that I want to purchase something out of the ordinary that can be a bit embarrassing when seen by other people. In online shopping, I do not need to be ashamed. It is due to my online transactions are basically done privately.

     7) Easy to search merchandise I want to buy
It is whereby I am able to look for specific merchandise that includes model number, style, size and color that I want to purchase. In addition, it is easy to determine whether the products are available or out of stock.

     8) Better prices
Another thing which fascinates me is the cheap deals and better prices I can get from online stores because products come direct from the manufacturer or seller without middlemen involved. Other than that, many online shops offer discount coupons and rebates.

      9) Variety
The choices I can get for products are amazing. One can get several brands and products from different sellers at one place. I can get in on the latest international trends without spending money on airfare. When I shop online, I can stop from retailers in other parts of the country or even the world without being limited by geographic area. These stores offer a far greater selection of colors and sizes than I will find locally.

Although there are a lot of advantages of online shopping  but there are some disadvantages of online shopping that I should be consider which are:

1) Cannot get personally check the item
It is whereby I cannot get to touch, see and test the product personally at online shopping. Online stores are only showing product description and photos of the merchandise, which can be disadvantages for many online shoppers.

 2) Long waiting time
Online shopping requires patience to wait for the item to arrive and it take around 2 or 3 days or even longer depending on the location.
