KEYPAD OR TOUCH SCREEN PHONE?

A QWERTY keypad is comprised of a series of keys used to input data for an electronic device such as cell phone. It is a smaller version of a traditional computer keyboard and is commonly laid out in a very similar way. The name QWERTY comes from the first six letters on the top row of alphabet keys on a standard keyboard. A keypad is used to enter letters, numerals, and usually common symbols such as exclamation marks.Keypads are the most commonly used and recognized system for entering text into a field.

Touch screens are visual displays that allow user to enter commands and information by touching images that appear on the screen. On a computer, this serves to eliminate the need for a mouse or other pointing device and on handheld devices like cell phones, it removes the need for a keypad. Touch screen can be used in a variety of ways and are often implemented in conjuction with pointing devices or keys. However, many portable electronic devices use the touch screen as the sole method of navigation and data entry. When the user wishes to type information, a virtual keypad is presented, and the user can type information using the touch screen.

Example of keypad and touch screen phones:

If you ask me, even if touch screen smartphones are the norm nowadays and even I use a touchscreen smartphone right now, I would still prefer smartphones that have a keypad or keyboard. It is due to I type quite slow on a touch screen phone and I make a lot of typing error too because of accidentally pressing another key as compared to a phone with a keypad. So, I definitely prefer phones with a keypad for heavy typing and texting activity. It takes forever in my case to type a sentence in a touch screen phone, but with keypad phones it takes more or less a few minutes. Other than that, I can know the location of all the letters. In a nutshell, based on my experience using the keypad phone, the benefits are fast typing, specificity, no calibration, accuracy and confidence, small size and durable.

To all readers you can share what are your preferences either keypad or touchscreen smartphone on the comment below.
